Hi, I’m Davina
Artist, Sea Captian, Pirate, Mama
I never believed in the story they were pushing in school, the one that said you have to memorize all this useless information in order to get good grades, so that you could go to college and get a real job, so that you could afford a life with lots of stuff like a good little consumer. In order to help grease the wheels of the ever growing economy as it grinds up our earth and our cultural and social commons and turns them into profit. I didn’t like school and I didn’t like the way the world seemed to work. I still don’t.
So I pursued an education that seemed more relavant to being human at this point in history; one that includes deep diving with phychadelics, traveling the world with almost no money, entwining myself in plenty of love affairs and friendships, sitting meditation courses, throwing myself into life at sea and growing another human being.
Through my adventures I’ve come to understand that this is a powerful time to be alive. This is a changing time. The old story that underpins our civilization is crumbling, which we can interpret as crisis on so many levels. But as the old story breaks down, the opportunity to create something new is being cracked open. We are the creators of the new story; the architects of a new world.
The time is now~ to heal ourselves, to stand up into who we are, to follow our passions and connect with our tribe. We are all made out of the same creative force that makes up this universe. Everything that we do, every way that we uplift, open, connect and grow, contributes to the becoming of the whole.
These are the places my brain wanders to, while going about my life here on Waiheke Island, New Zealand, where I am a single mama trying to launch a writing career, find the magical in the mundane and stay connected to nature, myself and my community.
